Client Specialty and focus
• Individual
Therapy— The key to successful therapy begins with
active listening – detailed attention to a client’s
particular life circumstance begins to build mutual understanding,
which reveals original perspectives. I closely partner with each
client to help reason through various life events. Solutions unfold
and negative thoughts and beliefs are challenged.
I am influenced by Cognitive and Solution focused therapies, as
well as Imago, Humanistic, and Psychodynamic theories. By combining
these approaches which are tailored to each client’s circumstance,
insight is gained and a deeper and more profound understanding of
one’s self is reached.
• Couples—For
the past five years, I have been an assistant for "Getting
the Love You Want " workshops held in Long Beach California.
The workshops are led by Waverly Farrell, a nationally certified
workshop presenter, Imago Relationship therapist, and founder of
Relationship Solutions. The workshops focus on the principles of
Imago Relationship Theory developed by Harville Hendrix, PhD. This
theory helps couples to heal childhood wounds, resolve conflicts,
and heighten their communication skills. Imago therapy also provides
a structure that creates safety and connection.
• Groups—A
group dynamic can help you better understand your own situation
as you witness yourself mirrored in others. Through the years, groups
have always been an important adjunct in my work. I am now organizing
a couple's group, and am planning a singles men's group. I will
announce the time and format in the near future. If you have an
interest in either group, please contact me at 323-687-1923.
