• Individual Therapy—
The key to successful therapy begins with active listening –
detailed attention to a client’s particular life circumstance
begins to build mutual understanding, which reveals original perspectives.
I closely partner with each client to help reason through various
life events. Solutions unfold and negative thoughts and beliefs
are explored. I am influenced by Imago, Humanistic, Gestalt, and
Psychodynamic theories. By combining these approaches which are
tailored to each client’s circumstance, insight is gained
and a deeper and more profound understanding of one’s self
is reached.
• Couples—For
over five years, I was an assistant for "Getting the Love You
Want " workshops held in Long Beach California. The workshops
focus on the principles of Imago Relationship Theory developed by
Harville Hendrix, PhD. In addition to the "Getting the Love
You Want" workshops, I have led couple's and single's workshops
and groups using the principles of Imago Relationship Theory. This
theory helps couple's and single's to heal childhood wounds, resolve
conflicts, and heighten their communication skills. Imago therapy
also provides a structure that creates safety and connection.
• Adolescents—My
work as a high school teacher has helped to me understand teenagers
and the problems they face each day. Being in their world and seeing
what difficulties they face with life circumstances helps me to
understand them and their process. My work with teens is not much
different than adults. In addtion to respect, I carefully listen,
guide, and validate the life experience being presented by each
individual.
• Groups—A
group dynamic can help you better understand your own situation
as you witness yourself mirrored in others. Through the years, groups
have always been an important adjunct in my work. I am now organizing
a couple's group, and am planning a singles men's group. I will
announce the time and format in the near future. If you have an
interest in either group, please contact me at 323-687-1923.
